Edmonton, AB, Canada - Michele Anstead, an author, speaker and domestic violence survivor, announced today that she has published Fear Is Not an Option, a new book that helps to empower victims of child abuse and domestic violence. A memoir, the book is intended to give readers the strength, courage and determination to become survivors. Fear Is Not an Option is being released by Joans Island Publishing.
“My goal for this book is to share my own experience in the hope that my insights will help others,” said Anstead. “I endured terrible abuse at the hands of parents, care givers, men and authority figures. Yet, my story is not ultimately about abuse - it is about survival and not just survival, but triumph over terrible odds.”
Her personal journey is an inspiring story of tragedy, triumph, and overcoming impossible odds. She survived years of abuse, living on the streets, drugs and physical violence. With the book, she is now exposing the many dark secrets behind her childhood, how it affected her belief system and what she had to do to survive. Despite all the challenges she faced, she was able to raise her ADHD-affected son as a single mother and transition from being on welfare to completing a college diploma with honors.
Pre-publication reviewers are praising Fear Is Not An Option, with Constable Scott Mills of Toronto Police Service & Crime Stoppers, for example, commenting, “The book is notable both for its honest, unflinching narrative and its complete lack of self-pity as the author describes not just the pain she endured in her childhood, but the personal journey of healing that has allowed her to break free from her difficult past.”
Anstead received her designation as a Certified Professional Counselor, which provided her valuable insight into the healing process and expanded her knowledge on the causes and affects of abuse. As a Motivational Speaker, Trainer, Certified Coach Practitioner and New Home Sales Professional her mission has always been to empower people through inspiration, motivation and education. Portions of the proceeds from the book sale are being donated to Domestic Violence shelters.
