(12PressRelease.com) An “Is that why it is?†musing about elves is given to the
much-loved pastime of gardening!
It‘s been a hot, moist growing season in much of the
U.S. Many who tend gardens have stated emphatically,
“It‘s been a great year for bugs!†So they go about knockingout the 100 plus insects that can hole up in the old growing patch.
Then--ah!--harvest time! Sometimes fruits and vegetables seem to disappear. Crops that there yesterday are gone today. What happened? Was it a varmint--a woodchuck, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, crow or opossum?
So, too, might you wonder: While harvesting, what causes our hands and arms to get rashes so easily? Brush a tomato or squash plants and within minutes, watch a red, lumpy rash blossom on your hands, arms and legs.
After hours of deliberating on the cause of these gardening maladies, the artists at Piker‘s Press came up with the only rational conclusion: garden elves. It‘s been known for centuries that little elves have been at work in the forests and woods. Soon, it‘s believed by many, they
began inhabiting everybody‘s gardens--sometimes for good--as in distributing and sprinkling the dew and sometimes for selfish purposes.
If you have ever wondered why some plants can be difficult to harvest, you have to concede that other forces may be at work. While daydreaming, Piker‘s artists visualized the scenario--garden elves trying to save some of the nature‘s bounty for themselves. This might indeed be the reason that carrots, radishes, potatoes, turnips and their ilk--can be a real strain to pull from the ground.
This is the kind of image that every gardener can muse upon and glean some humor--a smile or a laugh--perhaps even a grimace--and it has been nicely rendered in a artful expression that Piker‘s Press has titled, “Garden Elves,†available at www.cafepress.com/pikerspress. This image can be imprinted on T-shirts, aprons, coffee mugs and accessories, many of which any gardener would be happy to own or receive as a gift.
