The best way to build your list is by using segmentation. One way to do this is to transfer your customers that buy from you from the "prospect" list to the "buyer" list on your autoresponder. Different autoresponder messages should be used for follow-up. Remember that once you sell someone a particular item, you probably do not want to sell them the same item once again. Doing this will cause them to unsubscribe. The proper course of action is to encourage them to stay in touch, and also thank them for the purchase they just made. By having a segmented list, you can do this very easily. You can do this with most subscription-based autoresponders. Always work of building your list everyday. It can be tempting to stop the push for opt-ins when your list gets big. After all, if you have hundreds of people subscribing to you, you don't still need more people do you? Of course you need more! It is essential that you spend time every day building your list even larger. When people subscribe, others may unsubscribe. It's a vicious cycle! In the morning, and simply spend about 30 minutes encouraging people to opt in to your list. That's all you really need to do. Since people will continue to unsubscribe, to keep your list from disappearing, you need to keep working at it.
Do not over send to your email list. There are some who insist that you need to send out multiple emails a week. Emails with articles should be sent out to your subscribers giving them something to read every 72 hours. This is not always good advice. You know your list. The promotions you have sent - you should remember them all. It is your audience. Whatever they need, you need to provide it. So, for instance, if your email list is comprised of busy professionals, sending lots of e-mails is probably a bad idea. There are all sorts of things that are tempting when it comes to email marketing. Every day it seems like some new flashy technique is being revealed what will double or even triple your profits. Some of these offers will not work but for a short while. If you really want to be able to keep earning a good income from your list it's best to stick with the basics.
