The event took place at the Jim Pattison Pavilion in the Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Saturday February 5th, 2011. Roberts‘ presentation “From Skid Row to†highlighted his unique “rags to riches†personal life story, which inspired his audience of young speakers to overcome adversity and use their speaking abilities to become leaders in their fields.

His message proved to the audience that regardless of what type of adversity one faces, everyone has the ability to overcome it and use their experiences to make a positive impact in the world.
During the presentation Roberts highlighted many key moments in his life from his extensive childhood drug addiction to his successful comeback as President and CEO of Mindware Design Communications. Although his addiction started at age nine, Roberts overcame his adversity and obtained two business degrees from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.
